JAMES RONE

James Rone is a songwriter, performing artist, and educator. During the last two decades, Rone’s music has ranged from power-pop (The Seagraves) to soul-revival (The Robinson Caruso Organization) to pop-rock (School For Girls). His music has been used in podcasts (Filmspotting), short films (Bookman), collaborative theater (Sandbox Theater’s Unspeakable Things) and children’s musicals (I Don’t Want To Go To Bed). “Precious Creature”, his collaboration with Floex, the musician best known for the Machinarium soundtrack, appeared on the album Zorya.

Raised in Bristol, England, and Springfield, Missouri, Rone moved to Minneapolis to pursue theater, working as a playwright, facilitator, and improviser while crafting music as Robinson Caruso, backed by an 11-member R&B band. The Robinson Caruso Organizations’s EP The Love Debt EP was produced by Eric Furlong.

While working as an elementary school teacher, Rone co-founded the pop-rock quintet School For Girls, releasing the album All At Once produced by Adam Levy of The Honeydogs in 2016.

Rone's 2020 solo record Quiet As Fists presents a collection of songs with occasionally somber tones, but buoyed by bright melodies and moments of humor and hopefulness. Quiet As Fists was produced by Jesse Rone Johnson.
